Junkies in the Hood

Broadway-Brooklyn July 2008
There's nothing like having an hourly rate hotel a block away from your house. Since I pass the hotel everyday on the way to the train or bodega I have come across a wide range of characters (prostitutes, johns, and junkies), though this is my first attempt at photographing them. Anyways, here we have some lady that just sat and did move during my first pass. On the second pass she was vomiting. Sorry for the blurry picture, but the last thing I needed was for the look out junkie to catch me and shake me up.

Whens things slow down.......................

Brownsville-July 2008
As I was talking to the director of this community program out there for my job, I noticed she has this boombox with a tv in it. I was like damn. Very unprofessionally I switched the conversation to the box. At the end I gave her my card, and asked her to contact me if she ever decides to sell it. What a scumbag.

BK-2008
To all those that thought them kryptonite bike locks were the "rave" their not. I lost my only key to my lock and chain, and got to work on it. 20 minutes later, I had mybike..but no lock. Where there's a will there's a way.

Bed-Stuy- June 2008
Blood Rules, its either the name of a shit action movie, or straight up Bloods tagging the hood.

Brooklyn and Manahttan- June 2008
I tried to rekindle my love for art the other day, and decided to be all bourgeousie and check out the famous "Falls" exhibit. What a bunch of crap. The artist rendering before it was installed showed beautiful water falls coming off the brooklyn bridge. In reality, it looks like scaffolding on a rainy day. Absolute crap. However, these falls cost NYC, and us the tax payers, 15 million dollars. For some bitch artist to prance around in his creation. Give me my money back.

Brooklyn Somewhere, June 2008
Walking past a construction site somewhere in BK, forget where, I saw this. A old rusted train car. The funny thing was that it was off a fairly busy street, and then BOOOM, a train car in the middle of busy streets.

Shit is BANANAS!

Queens Bound G Train, Myrtle-Willoughby Stop, Bed-Stuy, BROOKLYN- 4pm July 15, 2008
Heading home from working in Flatbush the train I was on, stops all of a sudden in the middle of the tunnel. The conductor tells us theres a sick lady in the front car. So we wait, and 5 minutes later we are told to exit towards the first car, where we can get off right at the platform. As we exit, this is what we see. A lady lying face down in the middle of the tracks, ten feet away from the oncoming train. Before any police or medics got there, BOOM right in front of us. Ain't that a bitch? She wasn't moving, so she either fainted, or got knocked out from the fall, but she wasn't hit by the train I was on. Hope all is well with her. The shitty thing is that trains got cancelled and I had to walk back home. Look at that, a lady on the tracks. Smashandgrab2000 types iiiish.

On The Gizzzzzo

Myrtle Stop, JMZ- Bushwick, July 2008
Waiting for the J at 10 am I see this chick, just brushing her teeth while waiting for the train, like the platform was her bathroom. After brushing, she rinsed with bottled water and spat out onto the tracks. Only problem is the JMZ has elevated tracks, so her gurgle went onto the sidewalk below. Nasty, nasty, shit. Take it easy, either slow down in the morning, or get an apt with a bathroom in it. Ghetto Ass.

Straight Up I don't Give a Fuck

Sutter and Wyona- East New York, July 2008
On a hot sunny day, walking around the hood, I came accross this NYC van parked in the shade with the engine running. A look inside revealed, not two, but four city employees napping at 11am. Two in the front, and two sprawled in the bench seats in the back of the van. You can kinda see the guy's arm in the passenger seat, but the rest are still there. Not that I would care, but when its city workers gettin paid by part of my taxes...... Ya know?!?

Coney Island Blues

Sunday, July 2008
We were talking with some friends infront of the Coney Island skate shop when this feller approaches us and asks me for a light for his Newport. He's all fucked up, and he tells a story, "I just came from this bodega and the fucking arab sold me an old pack of Newports for 9 dollars! You see, the new tax stamps on the bottom of the packs are purple. This pack has an orange one. So i cracked him in the face!" Sure enough, two cops showed up from behind and started asking us questions, like we knew him. The cops bullshitted with them until the store owner arrived with the cops and pointed them out, as blood gushed from his head. The cuffs went on, and they took them away. All three feet away from us.

Coney Island this time around was not the best. The water was choppy with more trash than usual. Jelly fish too. My buddy cut his foot on glass, and I saw a huge shouting match on the train versus a big fat white dude and a skinny black homless vietnam vetran. They cussed each other for three stops, inches from beefing. What a dizzay.

Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival

KRS-ONE

Dj Premier
DUMBO, Brooklyn- July 2008
Free hip hop shows with good line ups are always bound to be good. But this show was just perfect. Good weather, crowds, friends, and vibe. And it was my first time seeing KRS-ONE live. We had a good view too. It was in the park between the two bridges, with the city as the back drop for the stage. Next time they have these, come.

Danger! Danger!

Somewhere- July 2008
So my buddy sends me these pictures of him with a shotgun. And I says to myself, shotguns are so 1992. But seriously, what the fuck is he doing with a shotgun below a moose head? Anyways...........

Baywatch!

Connie Island-Brooklyn July 2008
At work, I had the opportunity to walk around Connie Island at 12:30pm, on a Wednesday. Man, is it a completly different place. No crowds, and a few people on the board walk, a big departure from the mess it is on the weekends. Walked on the pier and saw guys pulling out bluefish. On the way out....what looked like a homeless man being carried on a stretcher by life guards. Didn't snap the picture in the right moment though.
