Car Troubles on Broadway

Broadway and Marcy, Brooklyn, NY
As I am walking to the bodega, I hear horns blasting from the street up ahead. I look up and I see this van with the windshield completely covered in matteresses and the driver driving with his head out the window. He was finally able to pull over, and "readjust" the mattresses. No one was hurt in the incident.

No Sleeping

April 22, 2008
43rd and 10Ave-New York, NY
Sitting in a park reading my newspaper, I see two security guards approach a homeless man sleeping on a bench. After kicking him to wake him up, they argued with him to get out. I heard one of the guards say, "You've been here for hours, and I even saw you brush your teeth here!" With that said, they grabbed him up, and dropped him on the sidewalk. The guy gets up, argues with them for a few more minutes, and then goes on his way.

Nuffff Said

Tibet in New York

42nd n 12th Ave, New York, NY-April 2008
Spring time means grabbing Chinese visas for english teachers at the Chinese Consulate. Though today, things were very different. There were police cars parked in front, and a watch tower posted next to the sidewalk. I went in and left, after realizing that there were over 300 people ahead of me. A zoo. As I leave through the police barrier, I notice red paint splattered on the floor. I looked up and the wall and then it made sense. Tibeten protestors had been here. Red paint on the wall and windows broken. It's crazy. But I feel for them, things are shitty for them right now.

Roaches and Arrests

Greenpoint, 2008
After a night of heavy boozing, we notice something moving in the shades. The biggest indoor roach I have yet seen in NY. With a cardboard box I killed it. Fuzzy picture because of its speed.

Union and Metropolitan, Brooklyn, NY 2008
Another day, another arrest. This one right outside the old Kellogs diner. Nothing really to write home about, but then again I haven't had any good content to post.

Geysers and Pigs

8th Ave and 37th, New York, NY
Walking back from lunch, I stumbled upon this. One of those wall hydrants blew a top and water shot straight accross 8th ave in mid day. It was a funny little sight, until the cops came and shut it off.

8th Ave and 35th, New York, NY
Walking back from lunch on a different day I stumbled across this crazy lady walking a pig. Another little distraction from a working day.

Baaaaaaaaam!

Bowery and Rivington, NY 2008

Riding back to Brooklyn on Monday night, I saw traffic up ahead. Slowed down, made my way up front and BAaW! I saw this accident, the area had already been closed off, and the occupants already on their way to the hospital. The cop car stood there with its lights. Aint that some shit.

Bird Brain

Flushing and Broadway, Bushwick NY 2008

This Saturday on our way to the G to fulton mall came upon this. I had to look twice cause at first I thought it couldn't possibly be a bird head-the beaks too big. But sure enough, head it was. Doesn't look like a bird native to bushwick though. And we didn't find any good sneaks or hats in fulton either.

Disappointed American

Livinston Street, Downtown Brooklyn, NY

After years of waiting for my naturalization process to start, I was overjoyed to have been finally called up for finger printing. I took the day off work, dressed nice, and laid out all my paper work the night before. However, once I got to the fingerprinting center, I was slightly disappointed. This is what the place looked like. Inside, it looked similar to a Greyhound bus waiting area. I waited an hour and a half, and then was called for fingerprinting. Everything was rushed, and the interaction I had with the finger printing lady was cold. After finger printing, I asked what my next step was, to which she replied, "You go home." Okay, thank you, and have a good day. Can't wait for the interview.
